Hogs meet beached Whalers at the Lake
Posted by: Adam Lundstrom on Mon Jan 14th 2019 10:47pm
The Hogs were finishing up a mini road trip Sunday night in Lake cowichan. The game was fast paced and tight checking and there wasn't a lot of room out there, it was 1-0 after the first on a goal from Tanner Wiersma, assist went to Brady Dew and Max Bernard.
The Whalers potted a quick one to start the 2nd, but Brady Dew answered with nice passing play between Kevin Arrscott and Rob King. The game went back and forth through the 3rd. The Hogs dug deep and Tanner Wiersma was setup on a nice faceoff play by Adam Lundstrom. With the Whalers leading by one they got a body checking penalty "about fuckin time" one of the players commented. Lundstrom won the draw back to Steve Gordon and the puck was put deep and came out to Weirsma and with 8 seconds left he went backhand cheese to tie it up.
The game was over and in the handshake there was a few punches thrown. Brady Dew threw down the mits and went toe-to-toe at center ice! …. I think we all know who won that one haha. It was a great team game played by the Hogs all around. They are looking forward to getting back on home ice and take on the Devils Saturday at 7pm in Fuller Lake.

Icehogs take down Bears 11-4. The scoring started early and did not stop as the Icehogs dismantled the weak Bears.
The team was led by a line of Weirsma, Lundstrom and Dew at center. They started the scoring early with getting two quick goals and finishing the night with a combined 21 points.
The line of Burnett Dukta and Mcguinness was solid with lots a chances and 6 combined points on the night.
The defensive play by Gordon, King and Cousins was nothing short of stellar with lots of shot blocks and getting pucks up the ice quickly.
The tender had another great performance keeping the Hogs in the lead the entire game. He also earned MVP for the game as he brought his BBQ. So the hogs could feast after a big win.
The Hogs are off for the holidays and continue in Kerry park on Friday Jan 4th at 730.
