When You Start To Slide.....!

I don't know what else to say. Absolutely, the boys could have done better in Kitchener. Will management get together in the off season? Of Course! Will changes be made? Who is to say!
The boys are on a down slide now. How long it will last is up to them. That they will recover goes without saying. They have been in this position before and found a way out. This reporter, for one, KNOWS they will find a way again.
One last thing. I was a little short with Jeff last night in the dressing room regarding this publishing venue. It was my mistake, and Jeff, you have my apologies.
That's it for now sports fans, see you around the rink!
The Cliffinator Is Back

Well sports fans we in the reporting field rarely get to see a perfect moment in time. Tonight was my perfect moment. When the Cliffinator stepped onto the ice it was if the heavens opened and rained pure love on all of us. You had to be there to experience it!
The game was good too!
I suppose I should say something good about the boys play. It may be argued that it's not the looming tournament that has up the playing ante but in fact the presence of # 4 that did it, suffice it to say it will be debated around the dressing rooms and beer halls for decades to come what actually spurred the Red Men to victory tonight but a grand victory it was. Whatever magic there was was on the ice all night. The boys played like they were possessed.
With Chris H contributing 3 and Jeff D 2 the Chien Chauds showed they were a powerhouse and a team not to be taken lightly! Ed, Brian, Mark and John also contributed to an overpowering preformance by all.
Everyone is fired up for the weekend. Hopefully I will get this overly indulgent rhetoric down to something akin to actual reporting by then, but don't hold your breath loyal readers.
Wish all the guys good luck. I will try to get a word or two out to you after each game.
Rampin' It Up

What can I say about last night's game that hasn't already been said by those in the dressing room after the game. Hopefully the truth! The Red Boys have been playing good steady hockey this whole season. Like all other players across the country though, as tournament time approaches, there comes a palitable sense of urgency. An unspoken but nontheless real sense that something is on the line and it's time to start digging in.
Last night was such a night. It was felt on the bench. The players were tighter. Coming off the ice just a little bit extra out of breath from pushing it up a notch. Coaches normally watching from the defense door up on the bench pacing back and forth looking for all intents and purposes like the real thing!
Yes hockey fans you have probably guessed that the Annual Kitchener Tournament is close at hand and the boys know it. Who knows the reasons why but two of the team's stalwarts, Ed Shure and Rich Lafoy dug in last night and produced stellar performances. Now I know what you're thinking Ed has been producing steadily for years and this year, and you would be right. But this reporter thought there was a certain lack of oomph in his play. Well last night the oomph was replaced with a bang and the Eddie of old shone through with a hat-trick worth of performance including a penalty shot goal.
Now to up the ante comes Rich. Contrubuting a hat-trick of assists of his own. Being in the right place at the right time pays off. Speaking of right place, right time, John read a dump pass perfectly on their blue line and took it in solo and scored. Great goal John. Hats off to Mike Cannon with an unassisted goal and a penalty shot goal as well.
The Dogs are itching for a good fight and Kitchener is just the place for it.
See you at the rink next week hockey fans!

Game 2 Sat 19th at 9:30-10:30 Kwanis Arena
Logel's Old Wrecks
Game 3 Sat 19th at 2:30-3:30 Kwanis Arena
Sarnia Old Sailors
I hope this information will be useful to all you fans planning to attend!
On to the game. Due to an unforseen scheduling problem the other team showed up on Thursday, but no Hotdogs. Atta boys go out to everyone on the team that dropped what they were doing that night and got to the arena in time to give Cory's Crew a show for their money. The holdiays must have been extra special good for everyone because there was copious amounts of sweat and wheezing to be seen and heard on the bench.
Early in the outing Mark H. fed Chris S. but there was too much dipsy and not enough doodle to get the job done and the Crew's goalie stoned Chris. Like Chris said after coming back to the bench, that play was like old furniture, No Finish.
Marc A. was in the game all night. Early on he knocked the puck down out of mid-air to keep the play in Crew's end. Good eyes Marc! Joe was outstanding on Defense doing his part for the team, we won't mention that his skate caused the second goal for the other guys!
Despite Joe's help George played a solid game between the pipes, and showed the Crew that this was no flunky team. We sure had a Shure thing going with Ed and Alex with Alex sniping a good one and Dad waiting in the wings to pick up the rebound and scoring. Good going guys!
With a little less than 1 min to go George was pulled from the net, and although it was to no avail it was quite exciting and a great way to end a good game.
That's it for now hockey fans, see you at the arena!
No Joy For Christmas

You can certainly tell something is up at this time of year. The Dogs had so many people out this evening, you might have thought that it was Christmas Time or something like that. Maybe they just like getting their pictures taken. Whatever the reason, Thursday night proved to be the best turnout of the season. So much so that some went over and played with Riordans and a few just didn't dress. It behoves me to mention that it was good to see Spanish Jim and Whitby Pat out to play. Great seeing you guys again!
There is an old curse among the team that says that any more than 2 lines and 2 sets of defense is too much. That old saw proved true this night. 3 full lines and defense to boot may have proved too much for our Redmen. No matter what they tried they couldn't muster up a strong offense. They almost skated perfectly up to Riordan's goal, they almost set up the perfect passing play inside their zone, and they almost scored many, many times. Thank the stars for George between the pipes. The above picture (taken after the game), shows a somewhat shocked George but, as this reporter observed, the score would have been much higher had it not been for his head standing antics between the pipes.
Not to say it was all bad. Chris Sabyan led an awsome lone charge up the ice only to be thwarted by Riordan's goalie. Mark Hawkins and Dan O'Neill combined from behind the net for a pretty play and Pat Sabyan took a long pass from beside our net to their blue line and waited and waited for what seemed to be hours before shooting on the goalie, only to miss. Thank God for bad luck or there wouldn't have been any luck at all.
And it was not as if their was no score. Mark Hawkins broke the drought at M 42 with a real digger goal in front of the net. Spanish Jim scored a goal from the point, to bad he was playing for Riordans at the time! Chris Sabyan got a flagrant tripping penalty at M46 and was assessed a penalty shot. George came through with flying colours and stopped the Riordan's player cold.
The team is off now until Jan 3rd for holidays. I would like to take this opportunity to be unabashadly politically incorrect and wish all you faithfull readers a Warm Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from my family and I.
Take care and all the best for 2013. See you at the arena!
