A Reality Check Is Humbling

Well the Burnt Steaks came into the Red Boys barn smarting from the 5-4 loss back on Nov 24th and looking for some retribution, and they got it. The Hot Dogs had a hard time getting their heads into the game. It didn't help that the average age of any given oppositon line was 12, but this reporter was hoping that the wiseness of years would prevail. Not so. Between John Kelly and Jeff Donaldson being shut out of scoring opportunities and the multitude of missed attempts, the Steaks netminder stymied our boys until the 49th minute when our boy Eddie slipped it passed the pipes for the first Red goal of the night. Kevin added another in the 50th minute to allow the boys to leave the rink with their heads held high. The score does not reflect George's job in net this evening. He stood on his head on several shots that would certainly have caused the end result to be substantially higher. Well we are coming into the home stretch for the tournament. The Boys in Red are putting it together quite well and it will prove to be an interesting time in Kitchener this year.
I would just like to take this opportunity to wish all 3 of you stalwart readers and your familys a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
See you in the New Year-Brendan
Slow Start But Home With A Bang

Well the Brew Crew had a slow start this evening, but once they got going there was no stopping the Machine. Georgeie's bench was a little short this night which didn't help them much. Jeff and Pat switched sweaters about half way through the evening to give the much beleaguered Riders a much needed boost, unfortunatly for George who had a practical demonstration of Jeff's patented wrist shot. Thankfully George's head ducking ability has not failed him or otherwise we would be hunting for a new goalie this morning.
The Hot Dogs v.2011 are becoming a true family affair. Last week it was the Family Sabyan. Dad Chris, Son Nate and Uncle Pat all on the ice at the same time. Well the Clan Hawkins figured they would contribute to the cause this week with Dad Mark, Son Cory and Uncle Chris all skating and scoring the whole night through. And don't forget Clan Kelly who have contributed with Kevin and John and Mike dropping the puck from week to week, and speaking of John nice job imitating the Zamboni there, John!
Solid Performances By A Tight Unit

Well it looks as if the Boys In Red are finally hitting their strides. Solid performances between the pipes and the unexpected assistance of one of the team's struggling players led the Dogs to a Solid 6-3 outing against Hands In Motion. Credit George Gauthier between the posts with his best outing this season. Gauthier stood on his head for 38 minutes before letting in the first of only three for the night. Good going George! Cliff McCabe's performance has been ghostly this whole season, it's almost as if he hasn't shown up at all! Well last night he made up for it. With 2 goals and 2 assists he led the team in points for the evening. Good going Cliff! Let's hope that Chris Sabyan's little bump on the beak with Mark Hawkins leads to nothing serious.
