It was a barn-burner at Cornerstone Sunday evening as the Nissan Ducks and CSHL Team B played a close
competitive game all the way to a point when both teams decided to end the game. Apparently the Zamboni driver fell asleep at his desk. The game ending final buzzer never sounded so both teams played on for several bonus minutes.
After 80 minutes of regulation time the Ducks had a 6 -5 lead but Team B scored a few seconds later to take advantage of the extra time and get a 6 -6 tie. The team skated for an extra 10 minutes 30 seconds beyond the 80 allotted time. The next 2 teams were standing at the gates giving the stink eye so the players called it a game.
Nissan Ducks Stars: * Scheer ( Hat Trick 3 goals) / ** Michaelson ( 1 goal, 2 assists) / *** Lacoursiere (1 goal, 2 assists.) Hon. Mention: Substitute goalie Tyler Stascak in net for Nissan kept the game close with many big saves especially glove saves. Additional Nissan Ducks scoring: Mark Herzog (1 goal) ; Morgan Herzog, Dave Ness, Bureau , and Litzsinger all with 1 asssist each.

The Herzogs returned to Summer League play after an extended trip and they all played great in their first game back.
The Herzog family unit of Big Daddy Mark , with daughter Morgan on defense, and son Ian in goal led the Ducks to a win over Team D. The precise game summary will have to wait a day or two after video review. This is necessary due to scoresheet irregularities. We do know that Mark Herzog skated in on a rush to the net and scored the first goal of the game on his first shift of the season and that got things rolling for the Ducks. Mark Herzog added one or more goals later on in the game.
It was a close contest to around the halfway point in the game then the Ducks got the offense clicking and pulled away to a big lead.
STARS: (* Mark Herzog / ** Ian Herzog / *** Morgan Herzog.)
Szkodzinski, Bureau, and Michaelson all 3 goals each for 3 Hat Tricks in the offensive effort.
Litzsinger with 2 goals, Dave Ness, Ken Picha added 1 goal each.
In the Assists column: Mark Herzog 4 assists; Dave Ness 4 assists; Szkodzinski 2 assists; Scheer 2 assists; Bureau 2 assists; Litzsinger 2 assists; Ian Herzog, Morgan Herzog, Picha & Houn all with 1 assist each.

Substitute Goalie Tom Treblay had the net duty for the Nissan Ducks in this game with Team A. Treblay was the star of the game shutting out Team A for near the first half of the game. Szkodzinski and Scheer led the offensive effort as NISSAN DUCKS skated to an 8 - 3 win over Team A. In the" Old Man Has Still Got It " Department Neil Michaelson fired one past his son who was playing goalie for Team A and that generated a buzz on the NISSAN bench.

Additional NISSAN DUCKS scoring: Lacoursiere ( 1 goal, 2 assists) ; Ness ( 1 goal) ; Michaelson (1 goal, 1 assist.)

MAY 19, 2018 Tournament Games 1 & 2.
The Hockey North America Pelicans played in 2 Barn Burner games the first day of competition in the Dragons Co-Ed Tournament. In the first game against the Rusty Blades Co-Ed team the game ended in a 3-3 tie. After 5 minutes of 4 on 4 Sudden Death overtime the score remained 3-3 so the Shoot-Out was needed. The HNA-Pelicans prevailed in the Shootout with goals from Jeff Carlson and the game winner by Chris Dewsnap. Star of the game was Goalie Libby Beaker who played a great game and stopped the Blades final shooter Joel Krystof to seal the win for the HNA-Pelicans. In regulation time Ben Dier with a goal, assisted by Ray Litzsinger & Drew O'Brien. Drew O'Brien in regulation time added two goals, one unassisted and the other assisted by Dier & Litzsinger.
In Game 2 vs. Beauties & Beasts the Pelicans got goals from Bob Younk, Amanda Swade, O'Brien, and Dier but the B&B's scored a late goal in the final minutes of play to get a 5 - 4 win. Libby Beaker in goal for the HNA-Pelicans played another strong game but took the tough luck loss. Game 2 was affected by a power-outage which caused some poor ice conditions but the game ended before the ice presented any serious safety issue. The power was restored about an hour after the game ended.
In Game 3 on Sunday MAY 20th it was yet another Barn Burner as the Pelicans faced off against the Family Affair Squirrels. After Regulation Time it was a 5 -5 Tie. In overtime it was a heart-breaker as a wild deflection up high off of a player's shoulder got past the Pelicans goalie high and the Squirrels got the 6-5 win. Scoring for the Pelicans were Jeff Carlson with 2 goals, Drew O'Brien with 2 goals, and Ben Dier with 2 goals.
Despite finishing the Tourney with a 1-2 record with points for Regulation Ties in all 3 games/ games going into overtime ( Game 1 a Shoot Out win) the Pelicans finished in 2nd Place with 11 Points behind the Champs Surf'in Cows undefeated with 15 Points. The other two teams tied for 3rd Place with 9 Points each no tie breakers to settle that outcome. It was a lot of fun and a big hockey weekend hosted by the Ladies Dragons Team.
