Bio: As the originator of the Harbor City Hockey Club concept, Jeff began skating as a way to recover from a ruptured right achilles tendon in July of 2005. As a veteran of 13 marathons and countless triathons, he thought ice skating would be a good "low impact" exercise utility to help rebuild the weakened calf muscle (which almost shrunk to half it's size after the tendon was surgically repaired). After learning to skate, and after spending many MANY Tuesday nights at the Ice World adult hockey clinic, he started his own "C league" team, and the rest is history... The Harbor City Hockey Club (home of the Stripers) was born!
Jeff gives all the credit for his hockey team and his hockey involvement to the great Ed Slusher. Ed and Colin and Greg V and Mike S were at the clinic every Tuesday night, and they really coached and showed Jeff how to skate and handle a puck. Nate Hays (co-founder of the Fighting Blue Crabs Hockey Club) will always be credited for the Stripers' green jersey idea!
