Posted by: Scott Gordon on Mon Oct 16th 2017 10:53pm

The Gators coming off there "A" Championship victory for the NASC Season, enter the final weekend of their year with a trip to Ottawa with the first game against Renfrew. The winner of this game enters the Winner's Bracket, Loser goes the Loser Bracket.

The first period the Tigers were able to strike early scoring two quick ones out of the gate. the First one game when Adam was able to pick the corner and the second came from Kyle on a nice little rebound play from the side of the net. However the Bombers were able to respond getting 3 unanswered goals until the Tigers were able to strike again with a late goal by Connor to tie the game up 3-3.

The 2nd saw a little back and forth between the teams where play shifted from time to time however the Tigers with there superior passing and heads up play were able to dominate most of the period with Brandon and Brock finding the back of the net twice making the game a 5-3 contest going into the 3rd.

In the third, the Gators were able to tack on to there lead with a nice little tic-tack-toe play as Charlie, Joey, and Connor who eventually buried his second of the night. Though a questionable penalty at best taken by Devon, the Tigers were able to kill off the infraction and was a nail biter to the end as the Bombers were able to get one back late in the period however Evan shut the door giving the Tigers there first W of the season taking the game 6-5.

Hi All,

As with every year I will be maintaining a website for the entire team. As always this team site will be private with only those who have passwords can access. The entire schedule for the season will be up as soon as I know no more changes will be made (however I have posted the first 4). This will also be a place the kids can check your stats and everything else about the team. I also do little post-game posts about how the team performed like they do for the Leafs and Sens on TSN and will do one after every game (you can see the pages upon pages of updates I've done if you want to look below or the next page). Also more importantly there is an attendance function that will serve the team as well. Every family will get an email from the website and you will be able to check your availability before each ice time. The emails are sent 3 days in advance. If you can't attend just respond to that email and quickly state why you can attend and all will be good. If however something changes from the time the email comes out or something else happens then just text me you can't be there and all is good. You can reach me at 905-242-2557 anytime. Other than that I look forward to meeting all the kids with Rick on Sunday and looking forward to seeing some familiar faces to.

I think that's all for now, we will try to have a parent meeting either the second or third practice in as well. Might just do it on Monday night. Just want to cover some thing such as extra practice ice, tournaments, etc. Either way I will let you know by email. If there is someone you want me to add in the email blast then please let me know as each family has there own situation and I don't want to leave anyone out.

Have a good week and enjoy the hot weather while it lasts!

See you on Sunday, will chat then.

-Coach Scott

Gators Thump Woodview, Take 1st Place in RR

Posted by: Scott Gordon on Mon Feb 27th 2017 10:40pm

The Gators coming into the game were tied with Mackenzie for first in the league however with Mackenzie losing to Brookside before the game began, the Gators were given the opportunity to put points between them and Mackenzie. Woodview however would be no easy foe as they have become a more well rounded team as of late being Brookside last week 5-4.

The first period the Gators were told to come out strong, and they did just that shutting down Woodviews #1 player and taking play to Woodview. It wouldn't take long as Mitchell popper the first one of the night getting around the defense after Little head manned the puck to make it 1-0. The Gators would have to kill a double minor from Simon after he was sent to the sinbin for protecting his goalie. Evan stopped all 5 shots he faced.

After coming into the second period with a 1-0 lead, the Gators looked to build on that lead and they were able to do just that. The taps just turned on as the Gators would add 4 goals in the period coming from all directions. The first to strike was Tyler off a nifty little pass from the back of the net from Bauer to make it 2-0. Adding to that would be Mitchell off a feed from Mason to bury it home for his second of the night. Then later in the period during a PP, Connor wired a shot from the point only to hit the post. However he would get another crack at it taking another ripper that found the tip end of Mason's stick to make it 4-0. Mitchell would add the 5th in the dieing seconds of the period for his hat-trick after being tripped up on the play and still managing to sneak it behind the goalie to make it 5-0 going into the third.

In the third, the Gators turned on shut down mode. Making simple plays, taking the man when needed and boxing out all shots around Evan. It was a complete defensive game with Evan facing only 8 shots, making all the stops needed to complete the shutout and the Gators having another complete team effort taking the game 5-0.

Gator Stats-Pack

PK: 3-3
PP: 1-1
8 PIM for Game as Mitchell still holds the "Goon of the RR"
29 Shots For
13 Shots Against
3rd Shutout for Evan in 4 Games

Gators Get first W against Brookside

Posted by: Scott Gordon on Wed Feb 22nd 2017 7:32pm

The Gators coming off a long break, were returning to action against Brookside after giving Kedron Gold all they wanted in a 3-1 victory and taking the first game of the round robin.

The first period the Gators dominated the play and shut down the Bombers top players. They were challenging pucks, getting good scoring chances and passing it around as a team. It didn't take long in finding the back of the net with a nice juicy rebound goal by Blake with an assist from his linemate Precoor. For the rest of the period, the Gators shut down any chances the Bombers had at getting chances to the Gators net with only one perimeter shot finding the pads of Evan.

After coming into the second period with a 1-0 lead, the Gators looked to build on that lead and they were able to do just that. Keeping the offensive pressure up, the Gators were able to capitalize on a bad clearing attempt which found its way to Bauers stick which we was then able to get it over to Tyler for him to bang home the 2nd goal of the game. Not long after, what looked to be a harmless shot from the perimeter actually led to a screen from Brookside's own defencemen which aloud Mitchell to find the back of the net making it 3-0.

In the third, the Gators having a 3 goal advantage shutdown Brookside in all aspects of there game. Shutting down the "big 3" proved to be rather easy except for one instance where due to a bad turnover, Jack from Brookside was able to get in on net, but Evan shut the door keeping the game 3-0. With a late penalty from Brookside, Glen Stewart played rather Defensive for the rest of the period and took the game and the 2 points from Brookside 3-0.

Gator Stats-Pack

PK: 3-3
PP: 0-1
8 PIM for Game as Mitchell still holds the "Goon of the RR"
