Posted by: Ryan Evans on Mon Mar 07th 2016 9:12am

Team America (12-2-2-0, 26 points) got back on the winning track Sunday night, prevailing in a back and forth, high-scoring affair over the Grizzlies, 7-6.

It was the World Police's sixth one-goal win of the season.

The two teams traded goals throughout the game. Team America never led by more than two, despite out-shooting the Grizzlies, 57-34. Goals late in the second and early in the third from forwards Matt Fairbanks and Ryan Evans stretched the World Police's lead to 7-5, which proved to be all the separation they needed.

Fairbanks, and his newly star-spangled twig, had a big game, leading Team America with a hat trick and five points. Fairbanks now has seven goals and 11 points in the World Police's last four games and 10 goals and 21 points in his last seven games.

RECAP: Game 15 vs. Spartans (Feb. 28, 2016)

Posted by: Ryan Evans on Tue Mar 01st 2016 12:46pm

After a two-week layoff, a sluggish Team America (11-2-2-0, 24 points) got a big time wake up call Sunday night, succumbing to the Spartans (4-11-0-0, 8 points), 8-3.
The loss snaps Team America's eight game unbeaten streak and shrinks its lead atop the standings to two points.

The World Police finally met a deficit they couldn't overcome in this one. The Spartans jumped out to 3-0 and 4-1 leads in the first period and never looked back. Team America struggled to contain the Spartans' fast break offense, allowing numerous breakaways and odd-man rushes that led to goals against.

Forwards Justin Schwechter (9) and Matt Fairbanks (10) and defenseman Zach Wilkinson (20) scored for the World Police.

Team America's (11-1-2-0, 24 pts) resiliency was on display Sunday night in Inver Grove Heights as the World Police erased a two-goal third period deficit en route to a 5-3 win over the Chiefs.

Team America has now won three straight games and is unbeaten in its last eight contests.

Trailing, 3-1, entering the third period, Team America rattled off four unanswered goals in the final frame to seize victory. Forward Matt Fairbanks led the World Police's charge with two goals, including the game-winner midway through the third.

RECAP: Game 13 vs. Warriors (Feb. 11, 2016)

Posted by: Ryan Evans on Fri Feb 12th 2016 10:42am

Team America (10-1-2-0, 22 pts) put together its most complete effort of the season Thursday night in Minneapolis, dismantling the Warriors, 12-1, to maintain sole possession of first place.

The 11-goal win was the largest in Team America's history.

The World Police started fast and never looked back in this one, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first period against the league's best defense. The Warriors pulled within 3-1 in the second, but never got closer than that. Team America rattled off the game's next nine goals, including a six-goal outburst in the third period.

Defenseman Zach Wilkinson notched four goals and five points to lead Team America and was one of nine players who had multi-point games. Goaltender Chris Anderson turned away 34-of-35 (.971) shots in the win.

RECAP: Game 12 vs. Miners (Feb. 6, 2016)

Posted by: Ryan Evans on Mon Feb 08th 2016 9:47am

Team America's defensemen ruled the day as the World Police avenged their only loss of the season with a 4-3 win over the Miners Saturday night in Inver Grove Heights.

With the win, Team America remains in first place with 20 points, but holds just a one-point lead over the second place Warriors.

All four of Team America's goals came from the blue line, with defensemen Zach Wilkinson and Joseph Blaney notching two a piece. Team America never trailed in the game, but it was a close contest throughout. Blaney's empty-netter with 59 seconds left, which made it 4-2, proved vital after the Miners drew within one with 19 ticks left on the clock. Team America closed out the win, though--its first over the Miners in team history.
