So in the playoffs, The Kraken faced the Regulators in the first game. After giving up the first goal, Jay causes a neutral zone turnover and takes the puck in and scores early in the second! Just over a minute later, we score a power play goal to take the lead for good and win the game 4-3.

In the second game, The Kraken faced the #2 seeded Colt 45's. Again, The Kraken gave up the first goal early in the first. We managed a power play goal with less than 4 minutes left in the second to tie the game at 1-1 going into the final period. The Colt 45's scored early in the third to take a 2-1 lead. Justin scored the tying goal with 3:07 left in the game to bring life to The Kraken. And just when overtime was most certain, Mike Rogers takes the puck into the zone and draws the defenders with him. He makes a beautiful centering pass toward the front of the net where Casey was waiting alone and scored the winning goal with 7 seconds left in the game!

The Championship game was a matchup between The Kraken and the #3 seed Vikings, who just came off a 4-2 victory over the #1 seed Foothill Flyers. In a very tightly defended game, Mike Rogers came through with a shot from near the blue line that bounced a few times on the way to the back of the net late in the second period. In the third, we had to kill off some penalties, but again, our defense stood strong and we held on for the 1-0 win to take the CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

Thank you to our friends and families who came out to cheer, who have supported us, who have understood our crazy love of hockey and the team!

The Kraken Survives and Thrives in Bronze A

Posted by: Brian Lee on Fri Aug 19th 2016 5:08pm

In The Kraken's 3rd season, we found ourselves in Bronze A, where we rejoined the top level teams in Bronze. The Foothill Flyers had just come off a championship season, winning Bronze A over the Vikings 1-0. We faced the Flyers in the preseason game and lost 5-2. We were happy with our showing, but it was a reality check as there is a considerable difference in speed in the higher level.

This season, we added Nick V. and Ben, who were both former Assassins, and another young talent in Connor, who just was old enough to play in Adult League with us.

It didn't take long to get going as we got our first win in the second game of the season. A 6-3 win over the Regulators gave us confidence that this would be a successful season. After starting 5-7-0, we finished the season strong, going 5-1-0 in the last 6 games to end up 4th in the division with a 10-8-0 record.

Second Season Domination

Posted by: Brian Lee on Fri Aug 19th 2016 4:50pm

The Kraken's second season saw the birth of a new Bronze B division. The Kraken found some familiar foes in the Assassins, Norcal Crossover, Nightmare, and some new teams in Fire & Ice and Gruesome B.

The Kraken finished an incredible regular season 19-5-0 and took first place in the standings. Jamison led the team in points with 23 (13 goals, 10 assists) and Mike R. led in goals with 17. Grant finished with an incredible 1.33 GAA, 7 SO, and a 0.936 Save %.

In the Playoffs, The Kraken won their first game in dramatic style against Gruesome. Mike R. scored just 2:06 into overtime to win it 4-3. In the championship game, we could not get past Norcal Crossover as we lost 4-1.

In all, it was not the outcome we wanted, but no doubt, we had a great season! Next season, The Kraken will move up a division to Bronze A where we hope to surprise some teams!

Our first season was filled with a lot of learning. The improvement over the season was great! We finished with a 5-11-2 record in the regular season. Our first playoff game was a close one as we lost to the Suicide Kings 3-2.

We are gearing up for the Fall/Winter season as all of the Kraken roster is returning for the next season! We will face-off against some familiar teams in the Nightmare, Assassins, and Norcal Crossover, as well as two new threats in Fire and Ice and Gruesome.
